Merry go round in Mt. Titlis

All set for Mt.Titlis ... ....Starting Point ...the beautiful Interlaken..

All set for Mt.Titlis … ….Starting Point …the beautiful Interlaken..

So it was my third day in Switzerland and today my plan was to visit Mt.Titlis, Engelberg and Luzern.

At the Interlaken West railway station

Took the train from Interlaken to Engelberg and this entire route was mesmerizing!!! It used to be sunny at times and foggy at times as you can see at the below pictures which also shows the different stations which we crossed on our way to Engelberg. We had to change our train at Alpnach Dorf from where we headed towards Engelberg.

About to reach Engelberg …

About to reach Engelberg …

From the Engelberg railway station we took a bus which took us to the cable car which takes us to Mt.Titlis. But.. hold on.. there are multiple levels of cable car ..to be precise we have total 3 different levels of cable cars to take us to Mt.Titlis, the first 2 are normal cable cars. During this journey we can easily view how we are going up from the greenery towards the snowy area. After the journey of 2 different normal cable cars, in the last leg you board the ‘World’s first rotating cable car’ and its like WOW. As the cable car rotates you can view the ice capped mountains all around that means you get a 360 degree panoramic view. Its serene!

Once you reach the Mt.Titlis, there are various activities which can be done like have a look at the Illuminated Glacier Cave, have a ride in Ice flyer, walk through the Titlis Cliff walk (which is the highest elevation suspension bridge in Europe). The Titlis Cliff walk is touted to be scariest and one of the best adrenaline rushing adventure but 100 percent safe. So its a must try but its not for the weak hearted !!! You can also have a walk through the snow capped mountains. Its really fun. Also there are restaurants so you can ensure your stomach’s filled and also enjoy the nice surroundings.(Unfortunately when we went, the Titlis Cliff Walk was getting constructed 🙁 So do not have any pictures of it)..

After visiting Mt. Titlis, we went back to Engelberg. The next destination for us was Luzern but the train was after an hour. So for the next one hour we spent our time roaming through the entire place. You can also do some shopping if you wish. It was really a beautiful place as you can see in the pics below.

Bright Engelberg :)

Bright Engelberg 🙂

After an hour, we took the train from Engelberg to Luzern .

… to be continued

P.S.: In Mt.Titlis, a very famous hindi bollywood song ‘Akele Akele kahan ja rahe ho’ (have attached the video below) was shot.
